Vote for candidate that can reduce killings, PFN tells members

Less than 24 hours to the presidential election, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has charged its 40 million members nationwide to vote for a candidate whose values align with those of the association.

The PFN said members should vote for a candidate whose government could eliminate or reduce killings in the country and one who would not use its power to control state institutions such as the Independent National Electoral Commission, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the police.

A statement on Friday signed by the PFN’s National President and National Secretary, Revd Felix Omobude and Dr Emmanuel Kure respectively, advised members to vote for a candidate who could fight corruption and nepotism.

Titled, ‘PFN’s benchmark for an electable presidential/gubernatorial candidates for good governance’, the statement reads, “The over 40 million Pentecostals in Nigeria affirm our values and commitment to the prosperity and peace of our dear nation. As basis for engagement, we ask all Pentecostals in Nigeria to vote our values which are hereunder stated:

“A Nigeria where her citizens are free to live anywhere within the country, do their business and practise their faith without let or hindrance.

“The elimination or drastic reduction in the killings that have overtaken the country in the past. A government that can secure the lives and property of all her citizens as enshrined in the constitution.”
