Kakuri Community enlightens residents on BVAS Machine, new election processes

The Kakuri Development Association in Kaduna South Local Government Area has carried out a comprehensive enlightenment campaign on the proper usage of BVAS Machine and other new election processes introduced by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Speaking at the event in Kakuri, the Chairman of the Association, Mallam Yusuf Garba described the upcoming general election as very critical to national unity, growth, and development of Nigeria as such no stone should leave unturned to ensure people vote for candidates of their choice.

He said the Association, in collaboration with the Interfaith Mediation Centre and Aid Foundation, had continued to enlighten residents on the proper use of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS machine to avoid vote wastages and ensure their full participation during the election.

Mallam Yusuf Garba commended Some organizations, including, ARMECO and Nigerian Breweries for their outstanding contributions towards Youth Empowerment, infrastructure provision, and several other community Services in the area which, according to him, has led to a reduction in drug abuse and crimes in the area.

In a presentation, the representative of INEC Hajiya Hauwa Yakubu announced that PVC collection had moved from ward levels to Local Government Secretariats following the attainment of the dateline for collection at the Ward level.

She stated that INEC was ready for the exercise and that the BIVAS Machines deployed were to eliminate double voting and ensure one man one vote for a credible and acceptable election.

She also gave a rundown of the election process from accreditation, voting, sorting, counting, and sending the election report to the INEC portal.

In their separate remarks, representatives of ARMECO Mr. James Akpor, and of Nigerian Breweries Mr. Danladi John promised more developmental community services as their Corporate Social Responsibility to the people.

They both recounted projects executed by the companies, including the provision of boreholes, security gadgets, educational enhancement, youth empowerment, skills acquisition, and youth employment opportunities.
