Edo govt parleys new Permanent Secretaries, urges support for ongoing reforms in civil, public service

The Edo State Government has charged newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries to be diligent in their duties, ensuring the realization of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda.

The Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., gave the charge during the onboarding programme organized for the Permanent Secretaries at the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Service Academy, in Benin City.

Okungbowa urged them to support ongoing reforms in the public and civil service targeted at improving the state’s workforce and ensuring efficient and effective service delivery to Edo people.

The HOS, who highlighted the vision, mission, and core values in the new organizational structure of the civil and public service, noted that it is pertinent for every Edo citizen to contribute their part towards the growth and development of the state.

He added, “The Governor Godwin Obaseki-led state government is paying critical attention to all sectors of the state, ensuring that every sector is repositioned to function optimally. It is, however, the role of all citizens to ensure the realization of this vision by contributing their quota to the growth and development of Edo.”

Addressing the Permanent Secretaries, Okungbowa stated, “You are the drivers of this administration’s MEGA Agenda in your various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) and with this government’s commitment to excellent service delivery, the vision and mission of Mr. Governor in ensuring full implementation of the MEGA Agenda should be embraced by adhering strictly to core values of the service, which include stewardship, truth, and professionalism.”

On her part, Special Adviser on Strategy, Policy, Projects and Performance Management, Sarah Esangbedo Ajose-Adeogun charged the Permanent Secretaries to work in line with the mission and vision of Governor Obaseki to achieve the goal of turning Edo State into a model for other sub nationals in Africa, which she described as a strategic driver for economic viability, as well as social and infrastructural development.
