Malaria Elimination In Nigeria: Stakeholders Call For More Funding.

The National Coordinator, Malaria Elimination Programme, Audu Mohammed, has called on the Nigerian Government and other relevant stakeholders to mobilize resources towards funding malaria projects across the country.

Mohammed made the call, at a media chat in Abuja.

He stated that over the years, prevalence of malaria has dropped from its initial 42% to 27%. This he attributed, to the synergy and support by the government at all levels as well as investment by development partners.

The Coordinator who was represented by Director of Procurement and Supply Management, Olukayode Ayinde, called for adequate flow of international and domestic funding and collaborations with existing control strategies with the aim of ensuring a malaria free Nigeria.

The theme of the Bi-annual media chat is “Bridging The Resource Gap For Malaria Elimination”.
