The 24-year-old Italian international came off in the first half of the game after turning away from Roma’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
He was helped off the pitch with Dejan Kulusevski coming on as his replacement.
Giving an update, Juventus stated on their website that the player will undergo surgery in the next few days.
“During yesterday’s match, Federico Chiesa felt a blunt trauma sprain to his left knee.
“The diagnostic tests performed this morning at J|Medical revealed an injury of the anterior cruciate ligament.
“It will be necessary for the player to undergo surgery in the next few days,” the club said.
