COAS Performs Ground Breaking Foundation of TYB– IRCC house

The Chief of Army Staff,Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai had on Saturday, performed ground breaking ceremony of the foundation of TY Buratai –International Golf Resort and Country Club (TYB–IRCC) house situated at Mambila Barracks, Abuja.

Gen. Buratai ,while laying the foundation, was highly elated that his vision has drastically transformed into a reality.

Explaining further, the COAS who is the Life Patron of the TYB–IRCC said, the club has started yielding great benefit to the golfers comprising the Nigeria Army officers and other services, paramilitary organisations and the generality of the public.

Gen. Buratai who was delighted for the feat the club has progressively achieved within the few years of its existence even with the limited available resources, saluted some positive efforts made by the NA officers both serving and retired to the development of the club

“It accords me much pleasure to see my noble vision finally transformed into reality.

“I was convinced from the onset that the utilisation of this hectares of land for the purpose of which it was meant in Abuja master plan would serve with much higher purpose and benefit to the members of NA and other services, paramilitary organisations and the general public as a whole.

“The actualisation of this dream and the outcome we are seeing today gives credence to the sound belief will have and the reality of what we are witnessing today.

“I followed with keen interest the impressive development and giant strides achieved by the TYB–IRCC’s management even with liberate limited funding on the Nigerian Army.

“The voluntary contributions of the NA officers and those from other services both serving and retired is testimony that a good product sells itself.” he noted.

While commending the massive infrastructural development recorded in the club by Lt. Gen. Lamidi Adeosun’s as the Chairman of TYB–IRCC
the Army Chief describes Adeosun’s achievements as heartwarming and attestation to the fact that when there is a will, there is a way.

He also expressed delight in the prudent utilisation or scarce resources towards achieving the great might.

According to Buratai,in order to sustain the exposure of this tournament, the NA officers and civilian golfers should engage and participate actively to take the club to an enviable height.

He however commended president Muhammadu Buhari for his unflinching support for the armed forces of Nigeria and pledged the loyalty of Nigeria Army to remain loyal to defending the territorial integrity and constitution of the country.

Gen. Buratai further expressed optimism that the project will be completed in a record time assuring that the Nigerian army under his watch will continue to support the Golf and other sporting activities of the army for the health and economic benefit of the officers and civilian golfers.

Earlier, the Chief of Policy and Plans, (Army) Lt.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, commended Buratai for his vision for the development of golf in the country, saying the club would encourage members of the Armed Forces, and their children, to develop interest in sports.

Gen. Adeosun, who is also Chairman of the Club, said the building of the club house would make the Army golf club complete, saying that 13 holes of the golf course had been sponsored, leaving five yet to be sponsored.

Recall that the TYB–IRCC has recorded remarkably great achievements in both infrastructure and wining of tournament within the shortest three years of its existence.
