UNICEF conducts outreach to assess the level of immunization in Soba LGA.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has said 67 million children missed out on routine immunizations between 2019 and 2021.
This was contained in the 2023 State of the World’s Children report (SOWC),. Which stated that immunization services are a core part of primary health care and are one of the most cost-effective public health interventions for reducing child death and disability from vaccine-preventable diseases.
However, decades of progress in increasing immunization coverage are now in peril. Given this UNICEF Conducted outreach to assess the level of immunisation antenatal in the Kurmin Shehu settlement part of the Turawa ward of Soba LGA of Kaduna
The outreach was graced by officials from the country office of UNICEF and the Kaduna C field led by Dr. Gerida Brukilla.

Findings have shown that the Community Lacks basic healthcare and good drinking water and many eligible children and pregnant women lost their lives as a result of health facilities
The team also discovered that many of the caregivers travel at least 15 km before they reach the hospital and many of them refuse to go to a health facility as the result of distance and bad terrain especially during rain.
The UNICEF team stressed that their mission is to turn the tide on this unprecedented increase in zero-dose children, saying it is essential to know who and where these children are so they can reach every child with life-saving vaccinations.

He said many of their children died as the results of killer diseases such as diphtheria, polio and many don’t have access to basic Care but with this development, they are grateful to UNICEF
The outreach is part of the zero-dose program aimed at tracking unimmunized eligibility. Children and antenatal services and other killer diseasesIt’s been supported by UNICEF wholeheartedly
