Train kills mother, daughter in Delta

A woman and her daughter were on Thursday afternoon crushed to death by a passenger train plying the Itakpe-Warri (Ujevwu) railway line in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the sad incident which took place about 3:40 pm on Thursday occurred at the Aragba area of Orhuwhorun town.

Witnesses said that the ill-fated woman and her teenage daughter were crossing the rail track when they were knocked down by the fast-moving train.

The duo reportedly died on the spot.

Though details of the incident were sketchy as of the time of filing this report, witnesses said that the incident led to a state of pandemonium in the area.

When contacted, DSP Edafe Bright, acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in the state, confirmed the incident to NAN.

“It is confirmed,” Bright said.
