The Sickle Cell Patients Health Promotion Center (SCPHPC) Kaduna has distributed sweaters and protective dresses to less Privileged Sicklers of the Centre
to reduce the effects of Harmattan on them.
The Founder of the Center Hajia Badiyya Magaji Inuwa disclosed this during the distribution in Kaduna yesterday.
Hajia Badiyya said the Centre distributed sweaters, head gears, socks and other cold protective wears to the children to protect them against extreme cold occasioned by the Harmattan.
She explained that Sickle Cell Patients because of their health challenges needs to be protected from the harsh Harmattan and that is why the Centre decided to assist them with cold protective cloths, saying from now till January February 2023, the weather is not going to be friendly.
“Crisis were most common during the season as a result of the extreme dry, dusty wind blowing, especially in the northern part of the country and stressed the need for help to the needy”.
“There was the need for Nigerians to be their brothers’ keeper by donating protective clothes to the less-privileged, especially the homeless children who spent the night in the open with nothing to protect them from the current harsh Harmattan weather.
“We discovered that, some children were in need of Harmattan cloth and when the wind blows, it causes health problems to the respiratory system such as asthma, bronchitis, as well as conjunctivitis, cough and catarrh.
Hajia Badiyya said materials were purchased from donations from her friends, family members and Associates whom she contacted on behalf of the Sickle Cell patients
She express joy at the overwhelming response she got, saying truly Nigerians are their brothers keepers.
