Serena Williams emerges 2018 GQ Woman of the Year

Tennis champion, Serena Williams, has been named the 2018 GQ Woman of the Year.

The list of this year’s honorees was unveiled on Monday, via the Twitter handle of the magazine.

The honorees include, Michael B Jordan of the Black Panther fame, Henry Golding, who was the lead actor in Crazy Rich Asians. Actor turned director, Jonah Hill also made the list while Serena Williams was the lone woman on the list. All the honorees had personal covers made for them.

The magazine revealed that there was a special element to Serena’s cover. Apparently, it featured the handwriting of Virgil Abloh, the Off-White designer, who has been writing everything in quotes lately.

On the cover, Serena wore a black long-sleeve turtleneck leotard and accesorised with a chunky belt.

Dropping hints about what Serena talked about during the interview, the magazine, which described her as the Champion of the year said, “No matter how you cut it, Serena Williams had a remarkable year. Jeanne-Marie Laskas visits the G.O.A.T. at her Florida home to hear about the U.S. Open moment heard around the world, along with Serena’s plans for the future, her thoughts on Brett Kavanaugh’s Supreme Court appointment, and what it’s like to be a black woman in America in 2018.”
