The Nigeria/Sao Tome and Principe Joint Development Authority (JDA) has vowed to harness all abundant resources endowed in the two countries to protect and maintain a clean and healthy environment.

The chairman of the Authority, Dr. Almajiri Geidam, gave the assurance in a telephone interview with journalists in Kaduna.

He said the Authority will continue to support both countries in the maintenance of a clean and healthy environment for the health and agricultural benefits of the people.

According to Dr. Geidam, the authority, which was established twenty years ago, has contributed greatly to the science and technological development of the two countries.

He pointed out that the authority is also working with multinational corporations towards effective implementation and advancement of various development programmes for the upliftment of citizens of Nigeria/Sao Tome and Principe.

Dr. Almajiri Geidam contended that the Authority, being a joint venture, would continue to look into key areas of human development to further promote unity, cooperation, and understanding.

The chairman added that the recent commissioning of a modern toilet at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria was a joint venture project at the instance of the Authority. Its purpose is to encourage personal hygiene and cleanliness among the students, as well as to familiarize them with the activities of the organization.

He expressed optimism that the relationship between Nigeria and Sao Tome and Principe would continue to grow stronger for the further integration of African countries.

Dr. Almajiri Geidam stressed that the Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic Zaria project is the fourth of its kind, explaining that two more are at an eighty percent completion stage in other tertiary institutions.

He then called for continued cooperation and understanding between Nigeria/Sao Tome and Principe for the progress of the two nations.
