The Director General of the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority (KADCHMA,) Mallam Abubakar Hassan, has applauded Hon. Bello El-Rufai for sponsoring 200 elderly persons as beneficiaries of the Health Insurance Scheme (HIS,) in Kaduna State.

The D.G. asserted while addressing the beneficiaries during the screening process in Kaduna.

According to him, the kind gesture by Hon. Bello who is a Member, representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency in the Lower Chamber, provides a solution to the healthcare issues suffered by citizens in the State.

He added that the initiative is in line with the strategy adopted in KADCHMA where well-to-do citizens of the State are encouraged to sponsor the needy to become beneficiaries of the scheme.

Mallam Hassan opined that it is a boost for them as it will influence other elite citizens of the State to do the same.

He also acknowledged the support of the Kaduna State Governor, Senator  Uba Sani for the clear inclusion of the Contributory Health Scheme in his sustained manifesto of his Agenda under health care management.

“One of the Illustrious sons of Kaduna State, Honourable Mallam Bello El-rufai, who is representing Kaduna North at the National Assembly, has decided to adopt 200 persons for the first phase and they are all here today which means that having paid their subscription for one year, they will be entitled free medical examination, drugs, and other health care for a period of one year after which they would have the opportunity to visit the hospital of their choice.”

“So what Mallam Bello has done today is one of the strategies we have adopted in KADCHMA which is contained in the adaptation strategy where we seek the support of well-to-do individuals who complement the effort of the government.”

“In the past, we have seen the likes of Honourable Morovia who enrolled 500 people under his constituency, we’ve seen Hon. Mukhtar Chawe from Kauru, Tudun Wada who also did that in his constituency and other philanthropists like Mallam Bashir Idris in Ja’ma and LGA, Mr Caleb of Caleb Foundation, we have seen people with knowledge beginning to take advantage of this to ensure that people are supported and government is also ensuring that people spend less from their pocket in terms of seeking for healthcare in Kaduna State.”

“Bello El-Rubai has committed to the first phase of 200 people and he has promised that every quarter, he will do much more.”

“So we are expecting to see more people in Kaduna State, the philanthropists, Businessmen entities, well-to-do individuals, come key into this program.”

“What we are witnessing today is a major boost because the government of His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani gave us a major boost with the clear inclusion of the Contributory Health Scheme in his sustained manifesto of his Agenda under health and the government is saying that they are committed, they are looking at the direction of maternal mortality, infant and child mortality in Kaduna State.”

“This time around, the government plans to achieve all these through community dialogue, community engagement, through communication at the lowest level.”

“The governor has decided to push this agenda of the contributory health scheme by engaging the people because the people need to know about it and that’s why today, I took my time to explain to them because these people are the representatives who are going to be ambassadors.”

“People who will benefit from this will also extend to others under sharing, so when they leave here, they will speak the language of KADCHMA so that those who are not here will understand and take advantage of the information.”

“This is why this is important to Bello and I want to commend his efforts to ensure that people within his constituency benefit from the health scheme.”

“We call on those in the House of Assembly, even in the Senate and other areas to take advantage of this and ensure that people from their constituency benefit from it so that we can begin to see people get enrolled in the contributory health scheme. and have good progress.”
