Gidan Yanci Holds Post-Election Dialogue to Seek Way Forward

A Group under the auspices of Gidan Yanci Fellows yesterday organized a One-Day post-election dialogue on electoral processes and to identify areas of improvement.

The event, which took place at Gusau Institute, Kaduna, was attended by participants, representatives of different political parties, and members of Non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Earlier, in his address, a Fellow and Co-convener of the event, Comrade Mohammed Bayero Yayandi, said the event aimed to reflect on electoral processes, identify areas of improvement, and explore strategies for enhancing transparency and inclusivity in future elections.

Participants at the event spoke extensively on the need for the government to improve on areas like educating the masses against selling their PVC cards, curbing vote buying by politicians, immediate transmission of election results after voting, early arrival of election materials, and adequate training of electoral personnel, among others.

The founder of Governance for All Initiatives and a Fellow of Gidan Yanci Fellows, Comrade Grace Hoses, stressed the need for the government to create an avenue for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) to exercise their civil rights on election day.

Dignitaries at the event included Mohammed Abubakar, Northwest Lead Themoney, Comrade Yushu’a Abubakar, Executive Director, eCAPH, Yusuf Goje, founder, Coalition of Association For Leadership, Peace, Empowerment and Development (CALPED), and top members of Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).
