Gen. Shuibu takes over as new Theater Commander Operation Hadin Kai North East

The former General Officer Commanding (GIC), 7 Division Nigerian Army , Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Major General Wahidi Shuibu has taken over the mantle of leadership of Operation Hadin Kai Joint Task Force (JTF) Headquarters Theater Command , Maiduguri as the new Theater Commander.

Maj. Gen. Shuibu took over from Maj. Gen. Gold Chubiusi, who also took over from the incumbent Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Chris Gwaki Musa from Sector Commander , OPHK JTF Monguno.

Speaking to newsmen immediately after he took over the authority of the theater Command, Gen. Shuibu said he hopes to continue from where his predecessor stopped and build on the capacity and achievements he attained during his tenure by achieving the mandate of the theater.

He added that he will strive to ensure that cases of Improvised Electronic Devices (IEDs) which have recently resurfaced in few places outside the state capital, Maiduguri are addressed and do not reoccur or continue in future with the support of all and sundry in the theater Command including the civilians and leaders of all the communities .

The new theater Commander noted also that, he is not new in the theater Command and he had since served as the former GOC, 7 Division of the Nigerian Army Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri. Hence, he is conversant with the terrain around Borno and its environs including Yobe axis and adjoining neighbouring countries of Niger, Chad and Cameroon Republics as well as the Lake Chad Region.

The change of flag was sequel to the last month’s redeployment of top military officers across military formations including Major General GU Chibuisi, who served at the theater command for only six months.

In an interview with journalists, Major Gen. Shuaibu said his new role is to galvanize the troops who are involved in the ongoing fight against terrorists to achieve their mandate.

‘”Coming to the theatre is an opportunity to serve, and my role is to galvanize the officers and men to ensure that we get the mandate of Operation Hadin Kai.

” We just go ahead and enhance the ongoing operations to ensure officers and men do what they are supposed to do,’ Wahidi said.

In his address to the troops at the handing over parade, the outgoing Theater Commander, Maj. Gen. Gold Chubiusi thanked his colleagues and all humanitarian organizations as well as the media for their support and encouragement.

Chubiusi said,” It is with the highest sense of duty and appreciation to Almighty God that I stand here to address you as I hand over the command of Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai to your new commander.”
