Exercise is key to performance — MWAN

The Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) has reiterated the need for regular exercise as a means of promoting longevity.

Dr. Zainab Muhammad Idris Kwaru, National President-Elect of MWAN, said this during a Three Kilometre Walk for Health organized by the association on Saturday as part of the activities to kick-start the 9th Bi-annual Scientific and Delegates Conference of the Association held in Kaduna.

According to her, exercise plays a major role in achieving healthy living, adding that by exercising regularly, one would remain fit.

“It also minimizes a lot of disease conditions that can come from not exercising, like diabetes, hypertension, and other diseases that always pop up as a result of a sedentary lifestyle.

As doctors, displaying this walk with the theme “Healthy Body, Healthy mind” is their way of saying that they are also ready to work the talk’, let the patients and the public know that exercise is a major factor in a healthy life.

“By exercising, we are telling people that exercise should be part of your daily routine; you cannot eat much food and exercise less,” she said.

The Kaduna State Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe Sabuwa was among other dignitaries who participated in the walk from the State Ministry of Health to Bida Road, Yakubu Gowon Way, and terminated at the Ministry of Health.
