Corruption: Immigration Service pledges to enforce travel ban

The Comptroller-General of Immigration, Muhammad Babandede, has pledged to enforce the travel ban on all politically exposed persons being investigated by the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Projects.

The CG also promised to make available some of the intelligence officers of the Immigration Service to assist the panel in the execution of its mandate.

According to a statement in Abuja on Friday by the SPIPRPP media leader, Juliet Michael, the NIS boss said this when the Chairman of the Special Presidential Investigation Panel for Recovery of Public Projects, Chief Okoi Obono-Obla paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday.

It read, “The CG pledged to partner with the Panel to enforce the travel ban on all politically-exposed persons who are under investigation by the Panel.

“In addition, he solicited the assistance of the Panel to recover properties belonging to the Service which were illegally appropriated by unscrupulous persons.”

The statement further said that Obono-Obla and his team were impressed by the great strides of the NIS under Babandede.
