A medical institute, Khuddam School of Health Technology has emerged as the winner in an inter-school debate organized by Youths from North West Nigeria under the umbrella of the YouthGovTracka, a project of Brain Builders Youth Development Initiative (BBYDI,) in Kazaure, Jigawa State Nigeria.

 

The event organized by the Youth Focal Persons from the Northwest Zone comprising Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, and Zamfara States, supported by BBYDI was aimed at promoting a sense of patriotism through the creation of awareness on the roles of youths in good governance and nation building with the topic “Youth representation in government: Bridging the Gap Between Policy and Participation.”

The competing institutions included; Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic, Khuddam School of Health Technology, Kazaure College of Education, Jigawa State Institute of Information Technology, Shamila College of Nursing Sciences, and Smart Science International Academy of Technology, Jigawa State North West Nigeria.

 

Khuddam School of Health Technology emerged in 1st position, Hussaini Adamu Federal Polytechnic as 2nd, and Jigawa State Institute of Information Technology in third position.

 

Reflecting on the transformative power of youth engagement, the Jigawa State YFP, Abdullahi Abba, remarked, “Our youths are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the voices of today. Empowering them to actively participate in governance is not just a duty, but a necessity for a vibrant and inclusive democracy.”

 

Similarly, the Chairman, of Kazaure Emirates Progressive Forum (KEPF,) Dr. Mansur Ahmed PhD in his address, advised that youths must be responsive towards meaningful development as accountability remains key to achieving good governance, adding that their role as youths cannot be overemphasized.”

 

The highlight of the event was the presentation of the Menu of Possible Commitments and the Citizens Accountability toolkit.
