World bank, ADB sets aside $47.5bn to tackle effects of climate change in African countries

The World Bank and the African Development Bank have set aside $47.5bn to help African countries tackle the effects of climate change.

According to the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, more than 65 per cent of Africa’s population is directly impacted by climate change.

Interim President of World Bank, Kristalina Georgieva says Africa remains vulnerable to the effects of climate change through prolonged drought, floods and destructive storms.
