Royal fathers not involved in UPU shameless faction

The continuous Shameful display of the key actors and elders who are recruiting some hungry lions called youth wing Executives under the Umbrella body of the Urhobo Progress Union is a total show of unpatriotism and an attempt to rubbish the traditional rulers in Urhobo Nation who are helpless.

In the last few years,I had taken my time to studied the part the Royal fathers played in healing the illness that has refused to let go the body of the Urhobo Progress Union, hindering the common growth and development of the Urhobo Nation.

The Nigeria constitution does not accord the Royal fathers any special privileges and this is a major lacuna our political leaders who finds their way to power used in weakening our traditional fathers as they are made to be custodians of traditional institutions.

Urhobo Traditional monarchs just like other states Royal fathers, are under the nemesis of the political leaders mostly the Governor of a state who paid their subvention and salaries in running the kingdom as a monarch. This is due to the fact that tradition does not permit them to work or hustle and the reason behind the common saying in Urhobo “Vwo da vw’Ovie mu, ku vwo ga”meaning when you crown a king, you serve him. But here in our political setting,after we crowned the fathers, we rubbish them by reducing them to beggers because to the political class, they are nothing and shouldn’t dictate what happen in their various Kingdom.

This is the clear indication of what happened in Kano State where as mighty as Emir Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, he was removed because he was saying the truth against the interest of the Governor Ganduje and not a single person from the Kano Emirate protest against the removal. This is an age traditional institution mostly recognized and respected in Nigeria and Africa, but the Governor just disgrace the former Emir by removing him unceremoniously.

Although, our Royal fathers can not be totally absolved from all absurdity,but their hands are tied, as political gladiators are using the UPU to mussle their political power because of their political Interest.

Today, Urhobo Traditional Council of Royal fathers under the leadership of HRM.Richard Layeguen Ogbon (JP),PhD,Rc,OON,Ogoni-Ogbon 1, The Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, have made several appeals and efforts to resolve the factionized UPU. But they have no constitutional power to dictate who should become the UPU legal Executives. Even majorities of the monarch has been reduced to the point of standing up for politicians to greet,which is a case of saving your throne first.And this is against the traditional values attached to the throne which everyone must bow and stand at the entry of King to any gathering.

Finally, the only way our kings can help in resolving the factionized UPU, is through continuous appeal to both parties to sheathe their swords and come to round table.This can only be achieved if only the warring parties are ready for dialogue and round table discussion,in using internal mechanism against the judgement pending in Court.

Personally, our Royal fathers are never the problem of UPU, hold Urhobo Politicians responsible for what is going on in UPU and it will take revolution by the youth through fierce protest to heal the wounds holding us back as a race.
