Police arrest man, 25, with drugs in Katsina

A 25-year-old man, Shamsudin Salisu of Maigamji village, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State was arrested with 182 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, 176 Exol-5 tablets, 16 sachets of Diazepam tablets, 15 tablets of Tramadol and 395 tablets of D5.

Katsina Police Commissioner, Muhammed Wakili, confirmed Salisu’s arrest on Friday at a press briefing where suspects of various crimes were also paraded.

The police boss said Salisu’s arrest followed a tip-off, adding that he had already confessed to committing the crime.

The Commissioner said, “On 28/11/2018 at about 11:30hrs, based on a tip-off, the Command succeeded in arresting one Shamsudin Salisu, ‘m’, Aged 25 years of Maigamji village, Funtua LGA of Katsina State in possession of 182 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, 176 Exol-5 tablets, 16 sachets of Diazepam tablets, 15 tablets of Tramadol and 395 tablets of D5.

The suspect confessed to the crime. Investigation is ongoing.”

Meanwhile, the police Commissioner had appealed for the cooperation of people in the current efforts at checking the menace of drugs in Nigeria.

He maintained that if people could cooperate with the police and reveal the identities of those bringing the drugs for distribution and sales, drug consumption would be greatly reduced.
