PDP rakes in N63m from sale of forms

The Peoples Democratic Party has generated N63 million from the sale of forms to 33 aspirants vying for the various positions in the 21-member National Working Committee.

There are 33 aspirants contesting for the various positions in the National Convention slated for October 30-31, at Eagle Square, Abuja.

The amount was tabulated from the N5 million paid for the position of National Chairman by Iyorchia Ayu, the N3million each paid by those contesting for the two Deputy Chairmanship positions, and N2million for other substantive offices.

Those vying for positions of deputies paid N750,000 each.

So far, out of the 33 aspirants, Iyorchia Ayu (Benue), Ahmed Mohammed (Gombe), Umaru Bature (Sokoto), Daniel Woyengikuro (Bayelsa), and Kamaldeen Ajibade (Kwara) are consensus candidates for the positions of national chairman, national treasurer, national financial secretary and national legal adviser respectively.

Three persons, Taofeek Arapaja, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Wale Oladipo, have obtained and submitted forms to contest for the position of National Secretary.

A similar scenario is playing out in the North East where the position of deputy national chairman (North), is being hotly contested for.
Former Minister of Women Affairs, Hajia Maryam Ina-Ciroma is contesting the position with Ambassador Umar Damagum.
