Obaseki inspects ongoing construction of Benin-Sapele Road, assures on completion

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has assured that the state government will complete ongoing rehabilitation of failed portions of the Benin-Sapele Road.

The governor gave the assurance when he led other government functionaries to inspect the ongoing construction work.

Obaseki noted that plans have been finalised to acquire a parcel of land to build a water reception point to drain floodwater from the road to enable the completion of the road project.

According to him, “As you can see, work is in progress. You know this is a federal road and we had agreed that the state will look for land and channel the flood that is causing the challenges on the road.

“I am here to identify the land as some surveys have been done. We want to fast track the process of acquiring the land and compensate the landowners. We also reviewed the design, which has now been completed by the contractor and now acceptable by the federal ministry of works.”
