Nigerian Army To Host Seminar For Social Media Influencers In Sokoto State

In a bid to counter negative narratives and create balanced reporting, the Nigeria Army Department of Civil–Military Affairs in collaboration with Security Affairs, an online Security News Platform has concluded arrangements to hold the 8th edition of Social Media Influencers Seminar.

In a letter of invitation the Editor-in-Chief of Security Affairs, Mr Austin Peacemaker Inaede said Fake news and misinformation are some tools that have been used to cause civil unrest and conflicts.

According to him, the advent of social media has become common among young persons to blog, post, broadcast and forward messages without verification.

Peacemaker also mentioned that the said seminar will expose online journalists, bloggers and social media influencers to the dynamics of the Cyber Warfare.

It is estimated that over 16million Nigerians are on the Facebook, the highest in Africa, making Nigerians the most active users in the Continent.

He announced that the 8th edition of the seminar will hold February 10, 2020 in Sokoto at Sokoto Guest Inn.
