Nigerian Army Graduates Students of Indigenous Language Course 7 to Tackle Domestic Security

The Nigerian Army has said, the current domestic security challenges in the country have necessitated the deployment of troops to thirty six states of the federation for internal security operations.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Turkur Buratai disclosed this at the graduation ceremony of indigenous languages course seven 2019, at the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja, said the indigenous languages proficiency for it’s personnel was informed by the adoptive nature of it’s domestic security environment.

Represented by Chief of Administration Army Headquarters, Major General Musa Yusuf, the COAS noted that the environment has been affected by security challenges such as Boko Haram Terrorists, armed banditry, farmers / herders clashes, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism among others.

According to him, these threats have the potency to undermine National Security, cohesive and peaceful coexistence of Nigerian across the country.

He noted that the ability of troops to communicate in the indigenous languages particularly the three major language, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, would hasten the nation’s social integration and ability to penetrate the local environment for operations.

In his remarks the Director General of Nigerian Army Resource Centre, Major General Garba Wahab said the two month intensive course would enable personnel to be able to relate freely in the society and to make it easy for them to carry out their duty during internal operations.

The Director General also congratulated the participants while urging them to practice the knowledge the acquired during the course.

The event was also attend by officers and top military brass.
