Kuje (FCT), Dec. 13, 2020 (NAN) Passionate Women and Youth Achievers Initiative (PWYA) has empowered about 120 widows and less privileged women with cash and food items drawn from different rural settlements in Kuje Area Council, FCT.

Mrs Chinwe Okoro, the founder of the organisation while distributing cash and food items to the widows in Kuje, said that the gesture was in line with the group’s core values of providing and empowering widows and vulnerable in rural areas.

According to her, the aim and objective of the organisation was to empower and support women development, through soft loans schemes, skill acquisition and empowerment programmes.

“We are nationwide NGO but now we are in Kuje, our NGO is relatively new about two years plus now, basically we are into skill acquisition and empowerment.

“Like what I am saying is not just talking when you go to our website you will see cupple of activities that we have been doing, like this time of palliatives we had three stages that we sheared palliative to limit the impact in this Kuje Area Council.

“By His Grace we are interested in aspiring individuals coming from less privileged community because the essence of it is to make life meaningful for them so that at the end of the day they will be useful to themselves and the nation at large.

“Basically we have been empowering people in our own way the little way we can but somehow we have seen that tge work outthere is so much that we cannot do it alone that is why we deem it fit to use this upportunity to call meaningful Nigerians that are passionate of what we are doing to key into this vision.

“Because this is a way to help and create employment for people like today in Nigeria a lot of people are University graduates in our forum but somehow because there is no work you see them doing things on their own making life meaningful to themselves.

“So that is the essence of this call and basically like we said we interested in that individual who has the zeel and desire to add value to his life not people outthere that when you call they will be reluctant to go.

“Basically we have been into short time skill acquisition but next year by His Grace before this time next year we shall have our permanent place that we will do long time skill acquisition,” she said.

Okoro, urged the women to be prudent in investing the capital they were given in order for their business to grow as entrepreneurs.

She called on philantropists, corporate organisations and Nigerians of goodwill to identify with the NGO in providing succor for widows and other vulnerable women.

Mrs Regina Okolo, a widow and mother of three, who was given food and some cash to start business expressed gratitude to the NGO and called on philanthropists and corporate organisations to identify with the NGO in providing succour for widows and other vulnerable women.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the women were empowered with cash and food items to improve their livelihood and that of their children. (NAN)
