My neighbours thought I’m a motorcycle dealer – Robbery suspect

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspected motorcycle thief terrorising the Izala Mosque, Kwangila in Minna, the state capital.

The suspect, Ibrahim Yusuf, 28, of Kuta, Shiroro Local Government Area of the state, was said to have on a number of times, stolen motorcycles from the General Hospital and the Izala Mosque area.

Northern City News gathered on Sunday that Yusuf had been involved in the crime for close to three years before he was nabbed by the police following a tip-off.

Yusuf told our correspondent that his neighbours in Kuta, where he lived, were under the impression that he was a motorcycle dealer, noting that none of them suspected that the motorcycles he sold to them were stolen.

“My neighbours never knew that the motorcycles I sold to them were stolen; they knew me as a motorcycle dealer. I move from one local government to another to dispossess unsuspecting persons of their motorcycles,” he stated.

The 28-year-old explained that he stole motorcycles anytime he needed money.

“To be honest with you, anytime I was broke, the next thing I would do was to dispossess people of  their motorcycles and make quick money; man must survive,” he added.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Police Command, Muhammad Abubakar, said the suspect was arrested by a team of police detectives attached to the GRA Division.

He stated that three motorcycles were recovered from him, adding that the matter had been charged to court.
