Ekiti Assembly PDP members declare for Olujimi

The Peoples Democratic Party’s members in the Ekiti State House of Assembly have declared their support for the Senate Minority Leader, Abiodun Olujimi, as the leader of the party in the state.

The legislators also said their support for Governor Kayode Fayemi was in line with the directives of the immediate past governor of the State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, that the Ekiti project is bigger than anyone.

The Deputy Speaker, Mr Olusegun Adewumi, who claimed to be speaking on behalf of his colleagues stated these while addressing journalists in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.

He said, “We remain committed members of the PDP as against insinuations in some quarters that we have defected to the APC.

“We made bold to say that our support for the state governor Dr Kayode Fayemi was at the instance of the outgone Governor Ayodele Fayose who directed that we should co-operate with the then governor-elect in the interest of Ekiti State.

“It was on this premise of the advice that we acted because Ekiti agenda is bigger than any individual or political party.”

Adewumi said that Olujimi was the most eminently qualified at the moment to be in the leadership position as the highest political office holder presently in the state.

He described those having a different opinion as “mischievous, lazy and political jobbers as there is no contest about the leadership of the party since the position is not contested but earned.”

He described the House of Representatives caucus members in Ekiti as “yes men” who were not capable of having opinions of their own.

He declared that a former state Secretary of the PDP, Dr. Tope Aluko, remained a bonafide member of the PDP, having been a National Delegate to the PDP’s presidential primary that produced Alh. Abubakar Atiku as the candidate.
