Edo to clamp down on unregistered vehicles

The Edo State Government has announced plans to begin enforcement of the ban on the use of unregistered vehicles in the Benin metropolis and environs.

This was contained in a statement by the Managing Director, Edo State Traffic Management Agency, Mr Dennis Oloriegbe, and made available to newsmen in Benin on Wednesday.

He said the move is part of efforts to check the use of unregistered vehicles used to carry out criminal activities in the state.

Oloriegbe said that clampdown would also extend to vehicles with severed number plates and using fake number plates.

Others are driving with masked number plates and illegal use of state government number plates.

The EDSTMA boss warned car dealers to ensure that every unregistered vehicle leaving their marts must display their duly registered dealers number to prevent such vehicles from being impounded.
