COVID-19: Edo charges residents on second dose vaccination, insists on compliance with guidelines
The Edo State Government has urged residents to take advantage of the ongoing second dose COVID-19 vaccination exercise to fully protect themselves against the pandemic.
The State COVID-19 Incident Manager, Dr. Andrew Obi, who gave the charge while addressing journalists in Benin City, reassured the commitment of the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration to totally win the war against the pandemic and protect residents.
Obi who noted that the vaccination exercise is an important step in the fight against the deadly pandemic, said the the government has intensified the second dose vaccination exercise across all communities in the state to ensure that all eligible citizens get full protection against the virus.
Obi said the exercise, which commenced on June 01, 2020, will last for 40 days, urging those who took the first dose to make themselves available for the booster dose meant to enjoy full protection against the virus.
The Incident Manager, who reiterated the need for residents to continue to comply with preventive protocols against the spread of the virus, said Edo was recording remarkable success in the management of the pandemic.
“We must adhere to all COVID-l9 guidelines even after vaccination to avoid a possible re-infection. Residents must continue to comply with all basic preventive measures including vaccination and frequent hand washing with soap under running water, avoiding close contacts and ensuring regular use of face masks,” he charged.
