CLO raises the alarm over rising criminal activities in Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom State Chapter of the Civil Liberties Organisation has raised the alarm over the sudden increase in criminal activities such as kidnapping, robbery and murder in the state.

A statement on Tuesday by its chairman, Franklyn Isong; and Secretary, Christopher Ekpo, decried the spate of criminal activities, adding that residents no longer sleep with their eyes closed.

Isong urged Governor Udom Emmanuel to halt the trend of insecurity in the state by providing patrol vans and other logistics support to boost efficiency of the police and combat the upsurge.

“The Civil Liberties Organisation, Akwa Ibom State Branch therefore called on the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, to provide patrol vehicles and other logistical supports to the Nigeria Police Force, Akwa Ibom State Command in order to boost the efficiency of the Police to combat the recent upsurge of armed robbery, cultism and other criminal activities in the State.

“CLO noted that residents of Akwa Ibom State no longer sleep with their eyes closed because of the high rate of crime in the State,” the statement partly read. PUNCH
