Buhari’s ancestral village gets district head

The Emir of Daura, Katsina State, Alhaji Umar Faruk, has appointed Alhaji Musa Haro as the district head of the newly created Dumurkol district.

Dumurkol, which is the ancestral village of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was upgraded to a district last week by the state House of Assembly.

A letter dated July 30, 2021, from the Daura Emirate Council, and addressed to Haro, said his official title would be Dan Madamin Daura.

The letter read in part, “I am directed by his Royal Highness, Alhaji Umar Faruk Umar, CON, Emir of Daura, to inform you that your appointment as the district head of newly created Dumurkol District has been approved with effect from August 1, 2021.

“This is sequel to the Katsina State Government’s letter, ref. no. S/SGKT/77/S.3/T.21, dated July 30, 2021, in response to our letter of recommendation for your appointment, ref. no. EC/DRA/GEN/1/Vol.11/T, dated 28, July, 2021.”

The letter further stated that 13 communities in the area would be under the new district.

The communities are Dumurkol, Jirdede, Kokutuko, Bula, Kalgon Dangwara, Yikka, Mammani, Raba, Gagir, Jassai, Yan Itakum, Tilla and Sukuf.

A spokesman for the emirate council, Mallam Usman Ibrahim, confirmed the development to The PUNCH on Sunday.
