Bauchi gov spends N80m monthly on food – NNPP gov candidate

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party in Bauchi State, Ambassador Ahmed Shuaibu, has slammed Governor Mohammed Abubakar for allegedly spending N80m monthly on feeding.

Shuaibu alleged that the N40m each given to his two wives, Hajia Hadiza and Hajia Aisha, by the governor was nothing more than waste of government resources.

He stated this at the 2019 Joint Governorship Manifestos Presentation organised by the Nigeria Union of Journalists, the Nigerian Bar Association, Nigeria Institute of Public Relations and some Civil Society Organisations in Bauchi State, which held on Sunday at DEC, Bauchi.

However, the state Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Bauchi State, Ibrahim Sade, in a telephone interview with our correspondent, described the allegation as baseless and false.

“It’s a lie. Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar is one of the few governors whose wives do not benefit from government funds. There is no such record that N80m is given to them monthly for feeding from government’s coffers. What evidence does the NNPP candidate have? What he said is not a known fact but a known lie,” he said.
