APC’s chaotic congresses explain Nigeria’s crisis, says PDP

THE Peoples Democratic Party has said the crisis recorded during Saturday’s All Progressives Congress state congresses, is a reflection of the greed and lust for power among APC leaders.

This, he said, was responsible for the myriad of crisis facing Nigeria today.

National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, said this in a statement titled, “APC’s Crisis-Ridden Congresses Explain Why Nigeria Is In Conflict, Says PDP,” which he signed in Abuja, on Sunday.

He said, “The fractious congresses of the APC has shown how greed and lust for power by the APC leaders has created crisis in all facets of our national life.

“The APC congresses was a harvest of confusion in which APC leaders engaged in physical, verbal and emotional assault against another, while using their thugs to unleash mayhem on party members with charms and dangerous weapons.”

“The outcome of APC congresses in many of the states has shown that it is a party that lacks leadership direction and internal cohesion; a party of unruly people, who are averse to peace, which explains why our country is reeling in crisis under the APC.

However, the APC in a statement titled: “APC Congratulates Party Members on Successful State Congresses,” signed by the National Secretary, Sen. John Akpanudoedehe, dismissed ‘’speculations’’ about parallel congresses.

He said, “The purported “parallel” Congresses are futile activities and very strange to the party, our Constitution and the guidelines for the conduct of the State and other Congresses.

“Only exercises conducted by duly inaugurated State Congress Committees are recognised by the Party.

“The APC leadership will not hesitate to take adequate and lawful measures against any person or interest sabotaging the collective Party’s interest and efforts to achieve peace and unity in our great party.” PUNCH
