By Lazarus Zakaa, Abuja

The National Coordinator, All Progressives Congress Professional Forum, Comrade Akin Akintayo, has commended President Mohammadu Buhari and other stakeholders on their reconciliation moves which have saved the party from the recent crises that engulfed her.

The group stated this a press briefing on Monday at the party’s Secretariat in Abuja, appreciated the president for being a listening leader.

According to Akin, Pres.Buhari’s prompt intervention culminated in the summoning of NEC that constituted the National caretakers committee headed by His Excellency Governor Buni.

He said, much has been achieved
towards the attainment of peace and unity of the party since the emergence of His Excellency Governor Buni led National Caretaker Committee.

“we pledge our total support and loyalty to attain their set objectives of reconciliation of party members
across the country and conduct of a credible election for new NWC later in the year”. He added.

The group also worried that, in their other resolutions in a press release recently, compelling on all members of the party that were pursuing any matter in any Court to withdraw all pending cases in court until the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanism was explored and exhausted.

Akin explained that, while many members have heeded to the call by NEC and have withdrawn their pending issues in court, some are still acting in defiance of the position of NEC.

“we urge the party to weigh its
disciplinary mechanism on those still acting in defiance of the NEC directives.

As Professionals, intellectuals and technocrats that are ready to always assist the party and the Buhari’s administration to succeed.

“we strongly believe that a good reward system will give foundation to the Peace and reconciliation that the President has begun with the setting up of the APC National Caretakers Committee.

“More is needed to be achieved for total resolution of the crisis in the party.

“Politics is interest and there is less tension when labourers get their due reward, bearing this in
mind,

“we hereby appeal to the president to further enhance party loyalty and structures by empowering the party’s National Caretaker Committee to nominate those who participated actively to install his government.

“A step in the right direction has been taken, yet we have not got it all right as issues of lack of reward system still lingers on in the party”. He said.

Akin disclosed that, they also find embarrassing the discordant tune between some members of the executives and legislators and resolve as follows:

“That the President help the reconciliatory process of the party by releasing appointment for boards to help boost the party’s reward system and expand it’s
acceptable amongst many aggrieved members that have worked for the party without
rewards.

“There is greater need to allow the party leadership more roles in Constitution of boards of agencies and relevant appointments to further the ongoing reconciliation of
our aggrieved members.

“We need to call for unity and synergy among our senior party men and women in the two branches of executive and legislator in order to drive the wheel of progress of our next-level mantra, proposing the formation of a regular APC Executive and Legislators Caucus meetings spearheaded by the SSAs to the President on Nationals Assembly
Affairs and Leadership of our party to foster unity of purpose in our quest as party to deliver the dividends of Democracy to our Nigerian people instead of the public brickbats engaged by our senior party men in both arms of government which does not
augur well for the image of party and government.

“On the imbroglio between the
NDDC and National Assembly, we appreciate the President in his sustained anti-corruption war.

“However, we encourage the President to take necessary actions that will benefit the largely neglected people of Niger Delta by repositioning the NDDC after the audit of the NDDC activities since its creation.

“The neglected people of Nigeria
bear the greatest brunt in the misdirection of NDDC and such tide must be change”. He Maintained.

The group appreciated the President for showing good intent as a pro-poor and pro-middleclass for rolling out empowerment scheme that have so much impacted positively in the Economy of SMEs and the poorest of the poor who bear the greatest brunt of the Coronavirus pandemic.

“We will appreciate the President once more for the NIRSAL intervention programmes, Youth investment loans, the 774,000 special public works empowerment program, CBN intervention programs for the agriculture sector and SMEs.

“We however called on the Federal
Government and relevant agencies to further ease accessibility and monitoring to these interventions to the SMEs and the informal sectors”. He said.

The group also encouraged the President to as a gesture of honouring Patriots and heroes in
the advancement of the Nigerian State to immortalize the late heroine Miss Tolulope Arotile as way of encouraging young Patriots who gave their best for the country
especially in the quest to secure our country from insurgency.

“Though we appreciate the President’s commitments to give teeth to his words “I am for no one, I am for everyone,” we also wish to call on the President not to fail to reward those who made enormous sacrifices to campaign and vote for him as party men and
women.

“Rewarding these men through an immediate release of board appointment to reward loyal party men and women will go a long way to enhance reconciliation drive by the National Caretaker Committee and strengthen the party beyond 2023”. He said.
