5.1 magnitude earthquake hits Xinjiang

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake jolted Shufu County, Kashgar Prefecture in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at 12:32 p.m. Saturday (Beijing Time), according to the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC).

The epicenter was monitored at 39.57 degrees north latitude and 75.59 degrees east longitude, China’s Xinhua News Agency reported.

The quake struck at a depth of 10 km, the center said in a statement.
