25 Years After Beijing Conference, What Nigerian Women Are Saying.

In 1995, women world over gathered at a conference in Beijing China and initiated a platform for action with a vision to empower women and girls .

The conference which was aimed at giving women a voice was adopted by 189 governments with a commitment to take strategic action in 12 critical areas of poverty, education, and training, health, institutional mechanisms among others.

Heralding 25 years of the Beijing meeting, Women from across the country converged on the nation’s capital to dialogue on issues limiting their effective participation in all spheres of endeavour.

On a positive way of changing the narrative, the permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, Ifeoma Anagbogu in remark restated the commitment of the Nigerian government to issues of gender equality, rights of women and the girl child.

The inter-generation dialogue also provided a platform for participants to interact and share experiences on the girl child right.
