A group, Delta Advancement Group has urged Nigerian politicians to exercise restraint while seeking support for Presidential candidates from their zones.
The group noted that no part of Nigeria can produce the President without the support of others as such unsubstantiated claims that one region has the numbers to produce president come 2023 should be avoided.
This was contained in a statement by its Coordinator, Ogbaudu Oke in Asaba on Sunday.
He said, “The Southern Governor’s Forum has recently vowed not to support any party that refuses to nominate a Southern candidate for president and the corresponding comments by the Northern Elders Forum.
“I think the issue of which zone produces the next President is capable of escalating the already divided unity in the country; If care is not taken, this can lead to total unrest and instability.” PUNCH
